Rialto police shoot man who followed officer with rifle, officials say



A Rialto police officer shot and injured a person Monday evening within the parking space of the police station after the person adopted the officer and brandished a rifle, division officers mentioned.

Simply earlier than 4:30 p.m. on the station at 128 N. Willow Ave., a police officer driving a marked automobile into the parking space was adopted by a black Dodge Charger, officers mentioned.

The officer parked close to the station and started talking with a civilian worker when the motive force of the Charger left his automobile holding an “AR-15-style weapon,” based on police.

The person ran to the driver-side window of the officer’s automobile and pointed the rifle on the officer, officers mentioned.

Further officers responded from the station and took the person into custody. He was transported to a hospital and was steady as of Monday night.

No officers had been injured, and police didn’t disclose any motive for the person.

The names of the person and the officer who opened hearth haven’t been launched.

The incident is beneath investigation by the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Division.
