David Crosby, a founding member of The Byrds and Crosby, Stills & Nash, has died. The singer/songwriter and guitarist was 81.
Melissa Etheridge, who had a child with Crosby through sperm donation, took to social media on Thursday to honor the late fellow musician.
“I’m grieving the lack of my buddy and Bailey’s organic father, David. He gave me the reward of household. I’ll without end be grateful to him, Django, and Jan. His music and legacy will encourage many generations to return. A real treasure,” Etheridge wrote on Instagram, alongside a picture of the pair.
Crosby’s spouse, Jan Dance, shared an announcement with Selection on Thursday, confirming his demise: “It’s with nice disappointment after an extended sickness, that our beloved David (Croz) Crosby has handed away. He was lovingly surrounded by his spouse and soulmate Jan and son Django.”

The assertion continued: “Though he’s now not right here with us, his humanity and sort soul will proceed to information and encourage us. His legacy will proceed to stay on by means of his legendary music. Peace, love, and concord to all who knew David and people he touched. We’ll miss him dearly. Presently, we respectfully and kindly ask for privateness as we grieve and attempt to cope with our profound loss. Thanks for the love and prayers.”

Crosby was first inducted to the Rock and Roll Corridor of Fame in 1991 as a member of The Byrds. He was inducted a second time in 1997 as a member of Crosby, Stills & Nash.

Within the late ’60s, Crosby co-founded the rock tremendous group Crosby, Stills & Nash. The group initially consisted of Crosby, Stephen Stills and Graham Nash.

David Crosby is survived by his spouse, Jan Dance, and his 5 youngsters.

Crosby wed Dance in 1987. He’s survived by his 5 youngsters. A son, whom he shared through sperm donation with Etheridge, Beckett Cypher, died after an opioid habit in 2020 on the age of 21.
