The federal authorities stated Tuesday it might not be searching for the dying penalty towards a person accused of killing almost two dozen folks in a racist assault at an El Paso Walmart in 2019.

The U.S. Division of Justice disclosed the choice to not pursue capital punishment towards Patrick Crusius in a one-sentence discover filed with the federal court docket in El Paso on Tuesday.

“The US of America hereby notifies the Courtroom and Defendant Patrick Wooden Crusius that the Authorities is not going to search the dying penalty within the on the spot case,” the submitting learn. 

Crusius, now 24, is accused of concentrating on Mexicans throughout the mass capturing that left dozens wounded and killed 23 folks.
