Arrest made after alleged arson at LAPD station


Los Angeles police on Friday arrested a lady who they are saying began a hearth outdoors of a South L.A. police station the evening earlier than, charring furnishings, images and the ceiling of the foyer.

The lady was arrested at about 3 a.m. and booked on suspicion of arson after surveillance footage tied her to the fireplace on the Southwest Division station on West Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, in keeping with Los Angeles Police Division spokeswoman Lt. Letisia Ruiz. Patrol officers noticed the girl, Mishauna Eaton, 30, roughly 4 blocks west of the police station, Ruiz mentioned.

Eaton is being held on $250,000 bond, the division mentioned.

Ruiz mentioned Eaton was seen on video approaching the station whereas pushing a procuring cart. Police wouldn’t say what led them to consider the fireplace was began deliberately and didn’t reveal a potential motive.

In a tweet, the LAPD posted images of the injury to the entrance of the constructing and introduced that the foyer could be closed to the general public indefinitely.

A Los Angeles Hearth Division spokesman mentioned firefighters had been dispatched at about 11:22 p.m. Thursday to what preliminary studies deemed a “garbage fireplace.” Inside half an hour of the decision, the blaze was out. Arson investigators had been later summoned to the scene, the spokesman mentioned.
