A 36-year-old man who coached basketball at a Granada Hills highschool and volunteered for a number of youth packages throughout the Los Angeles space has been charged with sexual misconduct involving a minor.
Gabriel Chavez of Chartsworth was arrested Wednesday on a number of counts of lewd acts with a minor and is being held on $310,000 bail, based on the Los Angeles Police Division. The LAPD is asking others who could have been sexually assaulted by Chavez to come back ahead.
Police mentioned Chavez was “engaged in an inappropriate relationship with a minor” whereas he was employed as a coach at Granada Hills Constitution Excessive College within the 10500 block of Zelzah Avenue. Chavez’s employment there was terminated in January. The varsity’s administration is cooperating within the investigation.
