Portland resident sounds alarm over city’s ‘Safe Rest Village’ program: Area of ‘organized crime and drugs’


A Portland resident is talking out in regards to the metropolis’s new “Secure Relaxation Village” program for the homeless amid complaints of loud noises late at night time and a rise in public drug dealing.   

The Secure Relaxation Village program gives the homeless with a spot to remain, bogs, laundry, showers, and extra, in line with an outline on Portland’s metropolis authorities web site. 

California-based nonprofit City Alchemy was tapped to run Portland’s Secure Relaxation Village website at Peninsula Crossing. 

The Portland Metropolis Council accredited a roughly $50 million contract for City Alchemy in April to handle its tiny dwelling program, in line with the Oregonian.

PORTLAND’S POPULATION DROPS AMID CRIME, HOMELESSNESS, OTHER WOES

ABC-affiliate KATU 2 spoke with residents in North Portland who dwell subsequent door to the Secure Relaxation Village. One home-owner complained about folks doing medicine on his property, stealing his water and listening to fights and screams close by. Others say this system fails to get the basis of the issues.

Kirkpatrick Tyler, City Alchemy’s Chief of Authorities and Neighborhood Affairs, informed KATU 2 the Secure Relaxation Village in Portland is “offering life-saving housing and providers to 68 Portlanders who had been struggling on the road only a week in the past.”
