Rhode Island man tries to sneak ‘artfully concealed’ gun parts in peanut butter jars through TSA


A Rhode Island man is going through a hefty high-quality after he was allegedly caught making an attempt to hide gun elements in two jars of peanut butter at JFK Worldwide Airport in New York Metropolis on Dec. 22. 

His checked baggage set off a steel detector, prompting TSA officers to take a more in-depth have a look at his baggage. 

Firearm elements from a .22 caliber gun, together with a loaded journal, had been discovered wrapped in plastic then stuffed inside two peanut butter jars, based on the TSA.

“The gun elements had been artfully hid in two clean creamy jars of peanut butter, however there was definitely nothing clean about the best way the person went about making an attempt to smuggle his gun,” John Essig, TSA’s Federal Safety Director for JFK Airport, stated in a press release.

Port Authority Police confiscated the gun elements then tracked the person down and arrested him, based on TSA. Police didn’t instantly reply to a request for remark about prices that the person might face. 

The person faces a civil penalty of as much as $15,000 from the TSA.
